Oxygen Therapy

What Is Oxygen Therapy?

If your pet can’t breathe, no other medication or treatment will help. Oxygen therapy–a high concentration of oxygen that allows your pet to breathe with much less effort–can be lifesaving, giving animals that normally would die of lack of oxygen more time for their medications to become effective.

How Oxygen Therapy Works

In oxygen therapy, 95% oxygen is pumped into a specially designed cage that holds your pet. This simply allows your pet to get much more oxygen with much less effort–which in turn allows your pet a better chance at recovery.

What Conditions Benefit from Oxygen Therapy?

  • Allergic reactions
  • Pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs or chest cavity)
  • Recovery from anesthesia and surgery
  • Respiratory distress or shock
  • Serious heart problems, such as congestive heart failure
